The store owner can close a live store from the Danger zone in Settings > General, in Store Admin or the mobile app. Team members and collaborators can't close a store.
Close your store
Before you close your store, export anything you want to keep. The Danger zone lists every export, grouped as Sales (orders and customers), Catalog (products, categories, attributes, product tags, brands, vendors and reviews), Inventory (stock levels, stock history, inventory groups and locations) and Online Store (menus and redirects). Select Export next to any of them, or Export everything to start them all. Each export runs in the background, and you download the file when it's ready.
In Settings > General, go to Danger zone and select Close store.
Read what happens next, then select Continue.
Verify your identity with the code you're asked for, then confirm.
The store's status changes to Closing. For 30 days, the storefront stays open, customers can still place orders, and your team keeps working as usual. Your subscription is cancelled at the end of the current billing period. Everyone on the store's team gets an email and a notification in Store Admin and the mobile app when the store starts closing, and again 7 days and 1 day before the store closes.
Reopen your store
While the store is closing, select Reopen store in the Danger zone. The store goes back to normal straight away. Reopening restores your subscription if its billing period hasn't ended. If it can't restart automatically, the owner is told and chooses a plan to continue.
After your store closes
When the 30 days end, the store's status changes to Closed and everyone on the team is notified. The storefront shows that the store is unavailable, and checkout stops. Store Admin still opens, on a closed-store screen that shows the deletion date and gives you Billing, Invoices, and every export from the Danger zone, so you can pay any balance and keep a copy of your data.
A closed store can't be reopened. It is deleted permanently 30 days after it closed. Everyone on the team gets an email and a notification 14 days and 3 days before it is deleted.
What deletion removes
Deletion removes your orders, products, customers, content, themes, settings, and all other store data. It can't be undone.
We keep your invoices and billing records. Your orders, products, customers, content and settings are deleted permanently — export anything you need before your store is deleted. The store's web address becomes available again for new stores.
Backups and activity logs that include your store's data are deleted within 90 days. Apps you installed are told the store was deleted and handle their own data. Billing records are deleted 10 years after the store is deleted.
Development and transfer stores follow different rules. See Development and transfer stores.
