Report totals use your store's base currency. Sales > By currency shows recognized sales in each order currency and its base-currency equivalent. Do not add the original amounts from different currencies together.
Gift-card purchases are excluded from sales revenue; merchandise paid for with a gift card is included. Returning a gift-card product reverses its gift-card value, not merchandise sales. Orders containing only gift cards still count as orders. Completed refunds reduce the original order's period. Editing an order's items also changes the original order's period to the edited value. Money an edit returns because the new total is below what was paid is not counted again as a refund. A paid order edited up stays in sales at its new value while the balance is due. A refund without selected items reduces total sales but does not appear as a merchandise return; pending or failed refunds do not reduce sales.
Saved number-format preferences in Settings > General control separators, grouping, symbol placement and compact dashboard figures in Store Admin and the mobile app. Open a shortened value to read the full amount. Detailed money rows retain the currency's decimal precision.
Missing costs are not zero costs
Cost of goods uses product costs recorded when the order was placed. Changing a product's cost later does not rewrite those earlier costs. An explicitly recorded zero cost is known; a missing cost is unknown.
Cost coverage is the share of remaining sold units with a recorded cost. When coverage is partial, gross profit and product margin use only the sales and costs of those covered items, after completed refunds. They do not estimate the missing costs.
For example, if one item sells for 100 with a recorded cost of 40 and another sells for 100 with no cost, coverage is 50%. The covered margin is 60, not 160. This is not the profit of the whole business: advertising, overhead and other operating costs are not included.
