Configure transactional notifications

Control order, payment, review, access-code, and restock communication without losing atomicity.

Customer notifications control email and message delivery separately for each order event and custom order status. The Message switch shows the effective SMS or WhatsApp channels and cannot be enabled when none is provider-ready. Payment-failed and review-request events have the same email and message template coverage as the other supported lifecycle events.

Order updated is sent when you edit an order's items, unless you skip notifying the customer for that edit. Its email and its SMS or WhatsApp message are switched on separately, and the message uses the channels chosen for Order Updated under Message channels. Its message template can use the order number, the new and previous totals, the balance due, the refund amount and a payment link. The payment link is filled in only when the edit leaves a balance to collect through a payment link; otherwise it is left out. One edit sends at most one email and one message on each selected channel.

When an order change triggers a notification, the message is queued together with that change: if the change isn't saved, nothing is sent. Sending is retried automatically, and a retry never sends the same message twice.

A Gift Card message stays Queued until the selected provider accepts it. It then becomes Sent, and the stored copy of its code is erased. If the provider refuses it for good, it stays Failed for your review and isn't retried automatically.

Restock requests preserve the contact channel the customer selected. Email and SMS requests move from Pending to Queued before sending; they become Notified only after the sending provider accepts the message. Failed and Suppressed remain visible for review. Assign an active restock email template before sending email alerts. SMS is offered only when restock SMS is enabled and its provider is ready. Messages link to the requested product and selected variant using your current product address and storefront domain.
