Discounts, Gift Cards and Store Credit at checkout

Choose which offers shoppers see and how stored balances are used.

Available discounts

A discount code appears under Available discounts only when Show in Cart is enabled and the offer is appropriate for the shopper. Applied codes are removed from the suggestions. An offer that needs more merchandise or a different selection can show its requirement without an Apply action. Codes restricted to another customer or no longer available are not advertised. Turning off Show in Cart hides the suggestion; customers who know a valid code can still enter it.

Eligibility, priority, stacking, dates and usage limits still decide which discounts apply. Applying a code does not bypass these rules.

Gift Cards and Store Credit

These payment options appear only when enabled. Gift Cards apply first, up to the balance and the amount payable. Store Credit then applies to the remaining amount, subject to the customer’s balance and your per-order limits. A percentage Store Credit limit uses the amount remaining after Gift Cards. A fixed limit is entered in the store’s base currency and converted for the checkout currency.

Amounts use the checkout currency’s decimal precision and the shopper’s language. Store Admin’s General number preferences do not change customer-facing checkout amounts. Balances and limits are checked again when the order is placed.

Preview in the checkout editor

Available discounts and entered codes use your store’s rules against anonymous sample items. Product- and customer-specific eligibility must be checked with a real cart. Explicit charge scenarios remain illustrative. Use SAMPLEGIFT to try a sample Gift Card covering the preview total, or choose a sample Store Credit balance. These options still follow enabled settings and per-order limits. Previewing does not spend balances, reserve Gift Cards, consume discount uses or create orders.
