Find and describe files

Search your library, edit filenames and alt text, and copy a file URL.

Find a file
  1. Open the library where the file was uploaded: Media or Online Store > Site assets.

  2. Search by filename, filter by file type, or sort by newest, oldest, name or size. Use the page controls to browse more results.

  3. Open a file to inspect its preview, name, format, size and upload date. Image dimensions are shown when available.

A field's file picker can show fewer files than the full library because it accepts only certain formats. Check the library and format before uploading another copy.

Rename a file

Open the file details, change Filename and save. Renaming changes the name shown in the library; it does not convert the file, change its URL or break existing references. Use a descriptive name that makes the file easy to find.

Add alt text

In the same details view, enter Alt text and save. Describe the image's useful content or purpose, rather than repeating its filename. The field accepts up to the limit shown.

Alt text is saved on the file for places that use it. The theme or content field determines how it is rendered; text already written into page or blog HTML is not rewritten when you edit the library file.

Write alt text with AI

In file details, choose Suggest with AI to fill Alt text with a description of the image. Review or edit it, then save; nothing is saved until you do. Each suggestion uses 0.1 AI credits.

To describe many images at once, choose Generate Missing Alt Text, or select images and choose Generate Alt Text. Alt text is written only into images that have none, so alt text you wrote is never changed. A run covers up to 1,000 images at 0.1 AI credits each and continues in the background; you can stop it at any time, and images already described keep their alt text. Use the Missing Alt Text filter to see what is left.

If an image cannot be described, its credits are returned. A run stops when your AI credits run out. Alt text with AI needs edit access to the library and permission to use AI image features.

Copy a URL

Use the copy control beside the URL in file details. Selecting a library file in a supported field gives Tringify a tracked use; pasting its URL into HTML does not. See Where files are used.

Renaming and alt-text changes require edit access to the selected library.
