Disable, delete, or remove currency data

Disable, Delete, and Remove currency data do different things. Use the one that matches what you want to change.

Disabling keeps the currency in the list but stops it being assigned to markets. You cannot disable a currency while a market uses it; remove it from those markets first.

Deleting removes the currency from the store. You cannot delete a currency while prices, shipping rates, product feeds, markets, or store settings still use it, while an active Gift Card holds a balance in it, or while automatic exchange rates are on. Past orders and payments never block deletion.

Remove currency data permanently deletes the currency's prices and settings after you confirm, so you can then delete the currency. It also takes the currency out of the markets that use it. Countries in those markets that were shown prices in this currency switch to your base currency, which every market keeps. It does not delete the currency, does not convert prices into another currency, and never changes past orders. It is not available while automatic exchange rates are on.

To clear several currencies at once, select them and choose Remove currency data. Review the counts for each currency, then confirm. Either everything is removed or nothing is. If the counts change before you confirm, review them again.
