An attribute is a reusable option group for products, for example Color, Size, or Material. Attributes own options such as Red, Small, or Cotton, and those options can power variants, filters, and product option selectors.
Where attributes appear
Variable products declare the attributes they use, then each variant stores one option value for each declared attribute. Attribute options appear in variant selectors and storefront filters when products expose those options.
Creating and managing attributes
Create attributes from Products > Attributes, add the options shoppers choose from, and keep the option order consistent with how the product selector should appear.
Deleting attributes
Deleting an attribute is blocked while variants use it. Remove it from products and clear variant values first, then delete it.
