The number format controls how saved prices and numbers appear in Store Admin and the mobile app. It does not change how the storefront shows prices. Customer emails, including gift-card amounts, follow their language and currency conventions. Changing your account language changes labels without changing your saved number format.

Separators
The decimal separator splits whole units from fractions. The thousands separator groups digits in large numbers and can be a comma, a dot, a space, an apostrophe, or none. The two separators are always different: if you pick one that the other already uses, they swap.
Grouping pattern
Standard grouping displays 1,234,567; Indian grouping displays 12,34,567. Grouping controls digit separation, independently of abbreviations.
Currency symbol
Choose whether the currency symbol appears before or after the amount, and whether there is a space between the symbol and the amount.
Dashboard and report numbers
Compact number format sets how Home, Analytics, Live View, and inventory summaries shorten large numbers. Search for a language or region, or choose K / M / B / T or K / L / Cr. The preview shows the result before you save.
Values below 10,000 stay fully written. Above that, the selected format determines the units and when to abbreviate. Japanese uses 万 and 億; Korean uses 만 and 억. German keeps thousands fully written and uses Mio. for millions. K / M / B / T uses K for thousands, M for millions, B for billions, and T for trillions; K / L / Cr uses L for lakhs (100,000) and Cr for crores (10,000,000).
Hover, focus, or tap a shortened value to see the full figure. Detailed report rows, exports, individual orders, payments, refunds, and balances keep full amounts. Currency precision still applies to full amounts: for example, Japanese yen has no decimal places and Kuwaiti dinar has three. Percentages stay percentages.
Shortened values use at most one decimal, omit trailing zeroes, and keep your chosen separators and currency-symbol placement. Rounding can move a value into the next unit: with K / M / B / T, 999,950 becomes 1M. Your saved choice applies in both Store Admin and the mobile app, independently of digit grouping.
Matching your country
When you change the store country, you can apply its separator, grouping, and currency-symbol defaults, or keep your current format. Your compact number format stays as it is either way. New stores start with the compact format for their country.
