A location can have a phone number for operational workflows. The phone number is optional: leave it blank and nothing is stored. If you enter one, Tringify validates it and stores it in a single standard international format.
How the phone number is checked
The phone number is validated against the location's country. Because of that, set the country before entering the phone number. You can type the number in the local national format for that country, or in full international format starting with a plus sign and the country calling code, for example +1 for the United States or +44 for the United Kingdom. Tringify recognizes the calling codes for every country it supports.
The number must be a real, dialable number for the country, not just the right length. A number that is too short, too long, or otherwise not a valid number for that country is rejected. The number also has a maximum length.
How the phone number is stored
When the phone number is valid, Tringify normalizes it to E.164 format before storing it, so the stored value always starts with a plus sign and the country calling code with no spaces or punctuation, for example +14155550100. This is true no matter how you typed it, so the same location's number is stored consistently.
Phone rules in CSV import
A location CSV has a phone column, validated the same way as the form: it is checked against the row's country code and stored in E.164 format. A row whose phone number is not valid for its country is reported as a failed row with the reason, and the rest of the import continues. To avoid ambiguity in a spreadsheet, write phone numbers in full international format with the plus sign and country calling code.
