A transfer is a durable record of stock moving from one location to another. Add simple products, variants, or inventory groups and the quantity for each line.
Transfer lifecycle
- Create the transfer in Pending status.
- Mark it In transit when stock leaves the source.
- Mark it Completed when the destination receives it, or cancel an in-transit transfer if it will not be received.
Creating or shipping a transfer does not change physical stock. Completing it atomically subtracts every line from the source and adds every line to the destination. Both movement entries, stock levels, audit record, and webhooks commit together or all roll back.
App-managed locations
A merchant can view an app-managed location but cannot change its stock or transfers. The owning active app can work with its location through the Store API. Other apps cannot see or mutate that location or its app-owned transfers.
