Deleting a library file is permanent. Removing a file from a product or another record is a separate action and leaves the file in the library.
Files with no tracked uses
After you confirm deletion in the library, a file with no tracked uses can be removed without an additional impact confirmation. Links on other websites and in emails already sent are not part of this check.
Files in use
A file in use is flagged before it is deleted, and you must confirm. This covers files selected in fields, files linked in written content, translations and email templates, and files used in theme sections, theme settings and checkout branding. Where files are used lists every kind of use.
Review the impact shown before confirming. Deletion clears the file from fields, gallery entries, custom data values, theme sections, theme settings and checkout branding. The products, pages and other records remain, but those places no longer contain the file. Links to the file in written content and email templates are not removed; they stop showing the file.
Files required by attribute options
An image used by an attribute option blocks deletion. Replace that option's image first, or remove the option if it can be removed. An image option still needs an image; simply clearing its required image is not a way around the restriction.
Deleting a selection
Select files in Media or Site assets, then choose Delete. Select all selects the current page. Selection can include earlier pages, so review the selected count and the library's selection limit before continuing.
The selected files are deleted together. If any selected file is blocked, none of the selection is deleted. Cancel, deselect the blocked file or resolve its use, then review the new selection. Confirmation of a referenced selection clears its removable uses as part of deletion.
Wait for the deletion result without submitting it again. If the request is interrupted, refresh the library and check which files remain before making another request.
After deleting
Deleting a file also removes its previews and resized copies. Its link stops working, and shoppers no longer see the file on your storefront.
Deletion releases the file's counted storage. Saved copies on another device or outside Tringify are not removed. See Where files are used.
