How to create a discount

Create a discount, choose its type and value, and understand what each type needs.

You create discounts in Store Admin or the Tringify app. The form shows only the sections and fields that apply to the type you choose.

On web or mobile
  1. Go to Markets and open the market.

  2. Open the Discounts tab and select Create Discount.

  3. Under Discount Type, choose a type and select Continue.

  4. In Details, enter a Name and choose the Method: Coupon or Automatic. For a coupon, enter a Coupon Code or select Generate. Enter a Priority number.

  5. In the next section, set the type's value, such as the percentage, the amount, the offer, the bundle, the gifts or the tiers.

  6. In Targeting, choose what the discount applies to. Only percentage, fixed amount and free gift discounts have this section.

  7. In Conditions, set any Minimum Subtotal, Minimum Quantity or Maximum Discount the type allows.

  8. In Customers, choose who can use the discount.

  9. In Schedule, set when the discount starts and, optionally, when it ends.

  10. In Limits, set an optional Total Usage Limit and Per Customer Limit.

  11. Select Create Discount to save it.

What each type needs

Percentage. Enter a value above 0 and up to 100, with up to two decimal places. You can add a Maximum Discount to cap the saving.

Fixed amount. Enter the amount in your store's base currency. You can also enter amounts for the market's other currencies; any you leave empty are converted from the base amount.

Buy X Get Y. Under Buy Items From and Get Items From, choose simple products, exact variants, collections or categories. For a variable product, choose its variants. Set how many items the customer buys and gets, and whether the Get items are free, a percentage off or an amount off.

The rewards are the cheapest items that match Get Items From, as long as enough items are left to meet the Buy requirement, whatever order they were added in. For example, with Buy 2 Get 1 free and items priced 900, 500 and 100 that all match both Buy Items From and Get Items From, the 100 item is free. The offer repeats for each complete set in the cart, up to Max Uses Per Order if you set it. One item can't count as both a bought item and a reward.

Bundle. Add 2 to 20 Bundle components, each with a quantity. A product component accepts any of its variants; a variant component accepts only that variant. A product and one of its own variants can't both be components.

Choose Fixed set price and enter the price of one set in your store's base currency, with optional prices for other currencies, or choose Percentage off. You can also set Maximum sets per order and a Maximum Discount. Each complete set is priced on its own, and a set that already costs less than the bundle price saves nothing.

Free gift. Choose 1 to 10 Gift products, each with a quantity. Only products marked gift only can be gifts. For a variable product, open it and choose the exact variant to grant.

Under How the gift is added, choose Add automatically or Offer to claim. Discounts at cart and checkout describes what shoppers see with each. Use Targeting and Conditions to set what the shopper must buy.

Tiered. Choose whether the tiers take a percentage or an amount off, then add 1 to 10 Discount tiers. Each tier has a minimum subtotal in your store's base currency, higher than the one before. Amounts are converted for the market's other currencies. Only the highest tier the order reaches applies, judged on the subtotal before any discount. A tiered discount always applies to the entire order.

An optional Minimum Subtotal works as a floor: below it, no tier applies, not even the first. An optional Maximum Discount caps the saving.

A discount never takes merchandise below zero: a subtotal of 100 with 200 off becomes 0.
