Edit or remove an attribute

Change options safely, replace an attribute on products, and clear the uses that block slug edits or deletion.

An attribute can be shared by many products. Open Catalog > Attributes in Store Admin, or Attributes in the Tringify app, and choose the attribute before editing its details or options.

Change options

You can rename an option or change its display order. A changed label updates automatically named variant titles; custom variant titles stay as they are. If the resulting automatic title is too long, shorten the label or give that variant a custom title before saving. You cannot remove an option still used by a variant, or change an attribute's sub type after creation.

An option's value is the token used in variant-selection links. Changing it can leave old links pointing to a choice that no longer exists; review links you have shared before changing a value.

Replace an attribute used by products
  1. Open each variable product that uses the attribute. Save other pending product edits first.

  2. Choose Replace attribute, select the replacement, and map every used option to an option on it.

  3. Save the replacement. Tringify rejects a mapping that would give two variants the same combination. The existing variants keep their SKUs, prices and stock.

Change the slug or delete the attribute

A slug change or deletion is blocked while a product or saved storefront filter uses the attribute. After replacing it on affected products, remove its filter under Catalog > Filters. Then edit its slug or delete it from Attributes. If someone changed the attribute since you opened it, reopen it and review your edits before saving.
