A location is a place that can hold inventory or fulfill online orders, for example a warehouse or retail store. Use locations to control online fulfillment and inventory routing.
Where locations appear
Locations appear in inventory, transfers, fulfillment priority, and any integration that needs to know where stock or fulfillment work belongs.
Creating and managing locations
Create locations from Inventory > Locations, set whether they fulfill online orders, and keep the address and phone number accurate for operational workflows. On mobile, open Locations and use the add button.
Deleting locations
Archive a location you may need again; delete it when it is gone for good. Both are available only when the location is empty: no stock on hand, no order still holding stock there, and no Pending or In transit transfers. You can't archive or delete the primary location, or delete the last active online-fulfilling location. An archived location is inactive, hidden from lists and pickers, and doesn't count toward your plan's location limit. Restoring it makes it active again and counts toward that limit. Deleting is permanent, but past orders, stock history, and transfers keep its name. You also can't deactivate a location, or stop it fulfilling online orders, while orders hold stock there. A location can't be deactivated while transfers to or from it are Pending or In transit. Merchant-managed locations are created and edited in Store Admin and consume the store location limit. Locations managed by an app do not consume that merchant allowance; they use the same numeric cap per installation. App-managed locations cannot be primary, are read-only in Store Admin, and are skipped by CSV update. The owning app manages those locations. Uninstalling the app makes its locations yours: they stay deactivated and show which app managed them. Reactivating one counts toward your plan's location limit.
