How checkout limits are calculated

Understand which amount is compared with the minimum and maximum.

Checkout limits use the merchandise subtotal left after product and order discounts. Shipping, tax, duties, cash-on-delivery charges, checkout fees, online-payment discounts, store credit, and other payment methods are not included.

Inclusive boundaries

The minimum and maximum are both inclusive. A merchandise subtotal exactly at either enabled limit can continue through checkout. A subtotal below the minimum or above the maximum is rejected.

Example

For 1,000 of merchandise with 200 in product and order discounts, the checkout-limit basis is 800. A minimum of 500 and maximum of 1,000 allow checkout. Shipping, tax, duties, and fees are calculated separately and do not change this eligibility check.

Admin-created orders

Customer checkout always follows the market limits. A staff member creating an order may deliberately continue outside the range when their role allows it; the order records that override.
