The store's base currency is the source of truth for catalog prices. Additional currencies become available to products, variants, shipping rates, and markets only after they are enabled in Settings > Currencies.
Markets decide which enabled currencies customers can use in each country. Product and shipping price forms let you enter prices for the enabled currencies. Checkout converts and rounds those prices for display, while the base currency remains the recorded source value.
