Choose message channels

Understand selection, provider readiness, templates, and delivery states for SMS and WhatsApp.

A message type can support SMS and WhatsApp without enabling both. Untouched stores start on SMS only. Choose SMS, WhatsApp, or both explicitly under Message channels. Access codes and Gift Card codes use exactly one phone channel so the same secret is never duplicated across SMS and WhatsApp. Turning a disableable message type off is stored separately from its channel selection.

A selected channel is deliverable only while that channel has an active, ready provider binding. Tringify never substitutes SMS for WhatsApp or WhatsApp for SMS. For a message configured on both channels, each channel is queued separately with its own template and provider binding. If one channel cannot be queued, the other is still sent, and the unavailable channel is not retried for that message. Only when neither channel can be queued is the whole message retried later.

Templates and outcomes

SMS and WhatsApp keep separate template content for every message type. Editing or resetting one channel never changes the other. Queued means Tringify has accepted the message for sending. Accepted means the provider accepted it. Failed means the provider could not send it after every retry. Queued is not the same as delivered to the recipient.
