Open Gift Cards in Store Admin or the mobile app. Import Gift Cards issues new cards from a CSV file, Export Gift Cards downloads your cards as a CSV file, and Bulk jobs lists your imports and exports with their progress, row errors and files. Importing needs permission to edit Gift Cards; exporting needs permission to view them.
Import Gift Cards
Each row of the file issues one new card. Codes are always generated by Tringify, so the file has no code column. Uploading the same file again issues new cards; it does not update the earlier ones. Retrying or resuming the same import does not issue cards twice. Cancelling stops later batches; a batch already issuing may finish. Cards already issued remain. An import can't be undone, because cards may already have been sent: cancel individual cards instead.
Choose Import Gift Cards and download the template if you need one.
Upload your CSV file. The preview checks every row before anything is issued.
Fix any rows the preview lists, then upload the file again. The import starts only when the preview has no errors.
Start the import. You are notified when the job is done, and Bulk jobs shows how many cards were issued and any row that could not be issued.
Currency, Amount and Reason are required. Currency is your store currency or another currency enabled for Gift Cards. Amount follows the same limits as issuing a card by hand. Reason is kept in the card's history and is never shown to customers. Optional columns are Recipient name, Recipient email, Recipient phone, Message, Language, Delivery, Send at and Expires at.
Leave Delivery empty to share the codes yourself; nothing is sent. Enter email, phone or both to send each card, using a delivery method available in your store, with the matching recipient email or phone number. Phone numbers include their country calling code, for example +15551234567. Language is one of your store's languages; empty uses your default language.
Send at and Expires at require future RFC 3339 dates and times with their UTC offset, for example 2026-12-24T09:00:00+01:00. Send at requires email, phone or both: the card becomes active and is sent at that time. Expires at must be after Send at. Leave Expires at blank for no expiry.
Each imported card is recorded like a card issued by hand: in its history as Issued, in the store audit log, and for apps subscribed to new Gift Cards.
Export Gift Cards
The export has one row per card, newest first: ID, the last four code characters, currency, initial value, balance, status, source, order ID, recipient details, message, language, issue time, activation time, expiry, scheduled send time and last update. Dates use RFC 3339 with your store timezone's offset. Values reflect the card when its export page is read. Full codes are never exported. When the export is ready you are notified, and you download the file from Bulk jobs.
CSV file format
CSV files use UTF-8. Exports start with a byte order mark (BOM) so spreadsheet apps recognize the encoding, and imports accept files with or without one. A file with text that isn't valid UTF-8, such as one saved in another encoding, is rejected with the line of the first problem. Save it as UTF-8 (in Excel, CSV UTF-8) and upload it again.
A problem with the whole file, such as a missing required column, a column named twice or a file over the size or row limit, is listed in the preview on row 1, the header row, like a row error. Fix the file and upload it again.
A value that starts with =, +, @ or %, or with a tab or line break, is exported with an apostrophe in front so spreadsheet apps show it as text instead of running it as a formula. So is a value that starts with -, except a plain number such as -12.50, which stays a number. A value that really starts with an apostrophe is exported with a second one. Importing the file removes the added apostrophe, so these values come back unchanged.
A value that is exactly __CLEAR__ is also exported with an apostrophe in front, and so is none in a column where it clears a value, such as Quantity Pricing. On import it is read as that text, not as an instruction to clear a value. In other columns none is exported as it is.
