A Gift Card is stored value in one currency. Customers can redeem an active card at checkout when Gift Cards are enabled for the store. The remaining balance stays on the same card until it is depleted, expires, or is cancelled.
Gift Cards are bearer cards: anyone with the code can redeem an active card at checkout when Gift Cards are enabled. Checkout does not check whether the shopper matches the recipient email or linked customer.
Keep the code and the View your gift card link safe. If a code is leaked, disable the card to pause redemption or cancel it to permanently revoke its remaining balance.
Gift Card products
A Gift Card product is a catalog product whose paid order items issue cards. Its selling price becomes the initial card value. Product publishing and availability follow the same sales-channel rules as other products.
At checkout
Gift Cards never ship and are not taxed. A cart with only Gift Cards has no shipping step: the shopper goes from contact details straight to payment, and cash on delivery isn't offered. In a cart that also holds physical items, only those items are shipped.
Shoppers redeem a Gift Card in the Discount code or gift card field in the order summary, at any checkout step. Checkout reads a code with a Gift Card code's shape as a Gift Card and every other code as a discount, so discount codes can't have that shape. Applied cards are listed with the discount codes and pay at the payment step, after discounts.
Codes and balances
Tringify generates a long random code for each Gift Card.
The complete Gift Card code is shown after manual issuance or sent to the delivery destination for a paid order. Staff who can edit Gift Cards can show it again from the card's page with Show code; each time is recorded. The customer can open it again with the View your gift card link in the delivery message and in My Gift Cards in their account. If issuing fails before you see the code, retry from the same form without changing anything: within an hour it shows that card's code instead of creating a second card. Elsewhere, Store Admin shows only the last four characters. Cancelling a card permanently revokes its remaining balance; disabling it pauses redemption without removing the balance.
