While your storefront is in Coming Soon and its page collects emails, visitors can sign up to hear when you open. They have to tick the consent checkbox first. Each sign-up becomes a newsletter subscriber who signed up from the Coming Soon page.
If Require newsletter double opt-in is on in Customers > Settings, these subscribers confirm their address before they receive email.
What is recorded
For every sign-up, Tringify keeps a record of the consent the visitor gave:
The consent text shown next to the checkbox, in the language the visitor saw, and a version that changes whenever that text changes.
The date and time of the sign-up.
The visitor's IP address and browser (user agent).
The page the visitor signed up from.
The consent text is recorded as your published Coming Soon page showed it, not as sent by the visitor's browser. When the same address signs up again, that sign-up is recorded too.
See a subscriber's consent
Open Customers > Newsletter Subscribers in Store Admin or the mobile app and select a subscriber. A Coming Soon sign-up shows “Signed up from Coming Soon page”, the date, the text they agreed to and their IP address. The details also show the browser, the language and the page. Staff with customer access can see this.
Export
Export in Newsletter Subscribers downloads your subscribers as a CSV file. Besides each subscriber's email, status and dates, the file has the consent record: consent_captured_at, consent_text, consent_text_version, consent_locale, consent_ip, consent_user_agent and consent_source_page. Subscribers without a consent record have these columns empty.
Apps and agents read the same record in the consent field of a subscriber, through the Store API and agent tools.
Protection against automated sign-ups
The sign-up form only accepts sign-ups sent from your Coming Soon page. When many sign-ups come from the same network, the visitor is asked to try again later, and the visitor's browser completes an automatic check before the next sign-up is accepted. Visitors don't have to solve a puzzle.
