Search by the last four code characters, recipient name, or recipient email. Filter by status or by manual and order issuance.
Gift Card settings
Open Gift Cards and choose Settings in Store Admin or the mobile app. Choose whether to accept cards at checkout, the maximum cards per order, automatic expiry and whether customers can check Gift Card balances on your store. Changing the default expiry does not edit dates on existing cards. Your changes remain a draft until you save. Only edited settings are saved; closing a changed draft asks whether to keep editing or discard it. Staff need permission to manage Gift Cards to save these settings.
Keep the code and the View your gift card link safe. If a code is leaked, disable the card to pause redemption or cancel it to permanently revoke its remaining balance.
Status changes
Disable an active card to pause redemption, activate a disabled card to restore it, or cancel a card to revoke it permanently. Every status change requires a reason and is recorded in the store audit log.
Delivery and balance history
Open a card to review its lifecycle changes, deliveries and balance changes. Each section shows its latest entries first; load more to view older entries. Entries made by a staff member or an app show who made them. Older cards show their known issuance and activation dates; earlier status and recipient changes are not reconstructed.
Change recipient details
Saving Schedule delivery sends the card at that future time, even if it previously had no delivery. The time must be before expiry. Delivery uses the recipient email when present; otherwise it uses the recipient phone through your store's messaging settings. A matching recipient and available delivery method are required. Moving the schedule moves the waiting send. Clearing it cancels the waiting delivery and sends nothing now; schedule it again or choose Resend when you want to send it.
You can change the recipient name, email, phone, message, language and delivery schedule only while the card has never been sent and has never been used. Sent or in-flight cards show Sent; cards with a redemption or debit show Already used, even if their balance was later restored. These details are read-only. Resend uses the saved recipient and language. Expired, depleted, cancelled and disabled cards cannot be edited or resent.
Delivery status
Each delivery of a card shows one of these statuses:
Waiting to send: the delivery is scheduled or about to be sent.
Sent: Tringify handed the email to its email service, or the text message to your store's messaging app. Tringify does not track the message after that, so Sent does not confirm that it arrived.
Not sent: the delivery could not be sent. The reason is shown with it.
Cancelled: the delivery was stopped before it was sent. A delivery failure shows its reason; clearing a schedule cancels its waiting send.
The reason tells you what to fix:
The Gift Card template for this delivery method is missing or turned off.
No sender email address or messaging app is set up for this delivery method. A store with no messaging app for Gift Card text messages gets Not sent instead of a delivery that keeps waiting.
The recipient email address or phone number is not valid.
The Gift Card was disabled, cancelled or expired before it was sent.
The delivery waited too long and was stopped.
The delivery could not be sent.
Fix the template or sender, then use Resend if it is available. Recipient details and language can be changed on the card only while it is unsent and unused.
Resend a Gift Card
Resend sends the same card and code again, for example when the recipient lost the message or a delivery was not sent. It does not issue more value.
Open the card and choose Resend. It is available to staff who can edit Gift Cards while the card is active, has a remaining balance and has not expired. It uses the saved recipient and language.
Choose email, phone or both, from the delivery methods available in your store.
Check the saved recipient's email address or phone number. Resend cannot change it.
Check the saved language. Resend cannot change it.
Choose Resend. The new delivery appears first in the card's deliveries.
Each resend is recorded in the card's history as Resent, with who resent it, and in the store audit log. A card can be resent only a limited number of times per hour; when you reach the limit, the message shows how many resends are allowed. Cards issued before full codes were kept cannot be resent.
Show a card's code
Staff who can edit Gift Cards can choose Show code next to the masked code on the card's page to see and copy the full code, then hide it again. Each time the code is shown, it is recorded in the card's history as Code revealed, with who showed it, and in the store audit log. The code itself is never written to the history or the audit log.
Cancelled cards, and cards issued before full codes were kept, cannot show their code.
Adjust a balance
Staff who can edit Gift Cards can add balance to a card or remove balance from it, for example as a goodwill gesture or to correct a mistake. Adjust balance is on the card's page while the card is active or depleted and has not expired. To adjust a disabled card, activate it first.
Open the card and choose Adjust balance.
Choose Add balance or Remove balance.
Enter the amount in the card's currency. The form shows the card's current balance and the most one adjustment can change.
Enter the reason. It is kept in the card's balance history and is never shown to customers.
Choose Adjust balance. The adjustment appears first in the card's balance history.
You can't remove more than the card's current balance, and a card's balance can't go above the Gift Card balance maximum. Adding balance to a depleted card makes it active again; removing all of an active card's balance makes it depleted. Each adjustment is recorded in the balance history as Adjusted with its reason, in the card's history as Balance adjusted with who made it, and in the store audit log. Apps subscribed to Gift Card updates are notified.
Refunds
A refund to the original Gift Card restores its balance only while the card is usable. Refunds to expired, disabled or cancelled cards are blocked. Resolve a reversible card status or use another supported refund method; cancelling a card cannot be undone.
Refund a Gift Card someone bought
When an order sold Gift Cards, the refund dialog lists each card. A card not issued yet refunds its full price and is never created. An issued card gives back its unspent balance by default; refunding more needs your confirmation, because what the recipient already spent is not recovered.
A card is locked while its money goes back. When the refund completes, the card is cancelled and, if it was sent by email, its recipient is told, unless you turned off the Gift Card Cancelled email. If the refund fails, the card is restored.
Cancelling a paid order refunds its Gift Cards the same way, at their unspent balance.
Expiry
Cards with an expiry become expired automatically when the time is reached and can no longer be redeemed. Expiry and cancellation events are available to webhook subscribers.
