Customize checkout appearance

Change how checkout, the payment status page, order confirmation and order status look.

While an online payment attempt is open, checkout asks the provider to close it before allowing a shopper to change identity, delivery details or cart contents. If the provider confirms payment, Tringify records it and keeps the paid order. If the provider cannot be reached, the change waits for a confirmed answer. A later capture on a closed attempt is still recorded and handled by the automatic refund rules.

Open Online Store > Checkout in Store Admin to edit the appearance of checkout, the payment status page, order confirmation and order status. The preview is the real checkout with sample data. Preview orders, payments and messages are never created.

What you can change

Checkout appearance covers your brand name and logo, a color scheme, one accent color, one font and the corner style, plus checkout blocks and footer policies. The same look applies to checkout, order confirmation and order status. Layout, spacing and text sizes are designed by Tringify so checkout always reads clearly and converts well; an accent color that would be hard to read is adjusted automatically. Order confirmation and order status can also show a background image. Checkout steps, verification, pricing and payment remain managed by Tringify.

Two switches decide which optional address fields shoppers see. Show company field asks for an optional company name. Always show address line 2 shows the second address line as a field from the start, instead of behind Add apartment, suite, etc. To rename a field, such as calling it Address line 2, edit its text in Online Store > Storefront Messages.

Save and publish

Changes save as a draft while you edit. Shoppers see them only after you publish.

Payment status page

The Payment status card edits the page shoppers see when they come back from the payment provider. It shows Verifying your payment while Tringify checks the payment, Still confirming your payment when it takes longer than about 30 seconds (the order is saved, the page updates on its own, and shoppers can leave and follow it on the order status page), Your payment didn't go through when the payment failed, was cancelled or expired (with Try payment again, where they can choose another payment method), and Payment confirmed before it moves on to the order confirmation. The page changes state on its own, without reloading.

The page uses your checkout appearance: your logo, colors, font and corners, the checkout header and the order summary. Choose a page state to preview each one. Use Edit Vascula to change the content around the status card; the card and its states are managed by Tringify. Save a draft, publish when you're ready, or use Restore platform template to return to the default.

Every word on the page is checkout text. To change it in each of your store's languages, open Customize checkout text, or Online Store > Storefront Messages, and search for payment. See Customize storefront messages.

Email subscription page

The Email subscription card edits the page your newsletter emails link to. It covers confirming a double opt-in sign-up, Subscription confirmed, Already confirmed, the unsubscribe step, Unsubscribed (with an offer to subscribe again), Subscribed again, and Invalid or expired link. It is one page for your whole store, not a theme page, so theme changes don't affect it. It uses your checkout branding. In the mobile app, the card in Online Store > Checkout opens the editor in your browser.

Choose a page state to preview each step. Use Edit Vascula to change the content around the Confirm subscription, Unsubscribe and Subscribe again buttons; the buttons and their forms are managed by Tringify. Save a draft, publish when you're ready, or use Restore platform template to return to the default. The page is never shown to search engines. See Send newsletters and promotions.

After payment

When a shopper comes back from the payment provider, the payment status page opens as a full page, then the order confirmation.

Buying a gift card creates a liability, not sales revenue: gift card lines are excluded from gross, net and total sales, product sales, frequently bought together and repeat purchases. They are never taxed or discounted. Spending a gift card pays for goods, which count as sales once on the order; the payment method is gift_card. Store credit is reported as store_credit. Completed refunds to either balance reduce sales once, on the day they complete; pending or failed refunds do not.

Gift cards can't be bought with a gift card or store credit. In mixed carts, gift cards apply first to the non-gift-card payable amount. Store credit then applies to that eligible amount remaining after gift cards, subject to the customer's balance and the store's per-order limits. Neither field appears for a gift-card-only cart. A direct attempt is refused with a clear message. The checkout editor's SAMPLEGIFT and sample store credit follow the same rule and never spend real balances.

Gift-card-only orders count as orders but are excluded from average order value. Average order value = total sales ÷ recognized orders that have sales lines. Free merchandise and fully refunded merchandise orders still have sales lines. A mixed order contributes only its sales amount. A sale notification shows that same amount; a gift-card-only order says Gift card sold and shows the gift card purchase amount. Checkout started, payment chosen and purchase event values and items exclude gift card lines.

Outstanding gift card balance is available in Analytics reports, saved reports and Store API reports. It shows current active, unexpired balances separately for each currency, independent of the selected period. Issued value is new value granted in the period; redeemed value is debits less redemption reversals; expired value is the ledger balance at each recorded expiration; adjusted value is signed merchant adjustments. Refunded value and cancelled value are shown separately. These movements use their own dates in the selected period, not the order's original sale date. Never add amounts across currencies. Currency is the required breakdown; use table display, with no comparison or sales channel filter. CSV uses the same values. Live View activity also says Gift card sold and shows its purchase amount for a gift-card-only order; its sales counter excludes that value. If confirmation is interrupted, keep the same checkout and check the order status before trying again. An uncertain order result does not authorize restoring spent balances.
