Test and schedule storefront designs

Compare designs and schedule permanent or temporary changes in store time.

Open the controls

In Store Admin, open Online Store, choose your storefront, then open Themes. Create A/B test and Schedule change appear above your installed themes.

Prepare a version

Choose an installed theme and its live, published, or draft version. Duplicate a theme before changing its design. Save the change, then open Edit theme or Edit checkout for each variant. Visual app embeds can vary; tracking pixels stay shared. Payment methods, verification, taxes, and other checkout rules keep their current settings.

Review and start

Choose Prepare versions after editing. Preview the saved theme and checkout before starting or scheduling. Preparing again captures your latest edits. Once scheduled, the saved versions stay fixed. A store can have up to 20 draft, scheduled, or running changes.

Schedule in store time

Choose the start time in the displayed store timezone. Turn on an end time for a temporary change. When it ends, the exact theme and checkout appearance live at the start return. Overlapping changes are rejected. If daylight saving makes a time occur twice, choose the intended occurrence; times that do not exist cannot be selected.

Compare A and B

Choose a traffic split, primary metric, and purchase window. Eligible returning visitors keep the same variant within the same browsing session. Results count measured visitors who viewed a variant, visitors who added to cart or started checkout, purchasing visitors, orders, net sales, and revenue per visitor. Previews, test orders, and visits without analytics consent are excluded.

Read the results

Purchases count only when linked to a measured visitor and within the selected window after their first view. Net sales exclude shipping, tax, and gift-card issuance, and reflect qualifying refunds and cancellations. Currencies are shown separately. Results update as events arrive and retain up to 800 days of activity. Small samples do not establish a winner; no winner is published automatically.

Make your choice live

Use Make variant live to publish a tested version. This ends the active test and cancels its automatic return. Use Make editable version live to leave a saved version and use the theme’s published version; draft edits are kept. Stop or cancel a running temporary change to restore its saved starting version.
